The best.
The Billy Connelly appearances are etched in my mind.
RIP.

Took me mum to see him at Hay festival. It was very good, no one has a better back catalogue of anecdotes surely? This doesn't come as a shock though. He was a shadow of his former self.

Indeed, he had not looked particularly strong for a while. Probably the most natural broadcaster of his time. RIP Parky.

His son was great as well. My mum had seen their double act show a few years previously (just before Covid I guess) and was a bit taken aback by how he had changed.
It was a great hour though. One of them where you felt very privileged to be there.
Cricket anecdote central.

28/5 he was at Hay.
Less than 12 weeks ago. Find a job you love/are good at then do it until pretty much your dying day.
A life well lived I reckon.

They reflected on that a fair bit, plus his relationship with George Best.

Sad news Rip michael. Losing so many icons of “my era” lately … it seems almost daily i read of the demise of a big character from the 70s sadly Always loved his slot .. particularly the billy connelly “interviews” !

I remeber the Ali interviews, and I was also thrilled as a teenager to see him interview Jack Dempsey and Georges Carpentier, names from heavyweight boxing's golden era.
RIP, Parky, you also had a good taste in music.
