I have a strange beer-related question and thought that this forum appears to exist solely for these type of questions:
Did Hobsons Brewery ever have a beer called 'Hobson's Choice'? I distinctly remember this to be the case but I can find no evidence of it.
Maybe it was 'Henry's Choice' (did/does this exist)?
Anything to do with Old Henry (I know this exists) ?
[WTF is going on?
Anyone else remember Hobson's Choice (ale?)?
MANDELA EFFECT!?!??!
WTF?

Having gone away to ponder this, I'm wondering if the phrase 'Hobson's Choice' was merely present on the pump clip for the Best Bitter.
They both produce a green colour in my mind.
Any ideas?

No idea, but I've just had a couple of pints of their 'mad as hops' Pale Ale at the Yew Tree, Peterstow, one of their best in my opinion. £3.90.

Do you just save all this stuff up and then let it erupt, Vesuvius-like, when you return?

Their Best Bitter was the biggest seller when I had the Pub and I have a recollection of Hobson's Choice on the pump clip.

I thought I was going mad then an image flashed into my head of the normal 'Best' pump clip and my mind was telling me that the answer may have been staring me in the face the whole time. I'm very much like a Dan Brown novel. Sitting outside charity shops, found in skips, full of shit etc.

Hobson's Choice, starring John Mills and Charles Laughton, is a good old film. Released in the Dawn Year of the Age of Enlightenment, it's a bit modern for me but quite enjoyable.
We're always disappointed when a barrel of Hobson's Best Bitter is on at the pub, rather than the majestic Town Crier. Similarly, Ledbury Best Bitter and Three Tuns Best Bitter are execrable beers.
("Tun" is another word meaning "barrel.")

Anywhere in the world.

Sadly, the Salutation, with an advertisement outside the front door for Hobson's Town Crier, used to stock it all the time - now, with just two taps - and the one always being that Butty Bach rubbish - it only gets on the left hand side of the bar every now and again. Close it down, especially now Ralph Vaughan Williams has stopped using the bloody place. Not to mention Shagger Morris.

I'm not really a fan of most of the other Wye Valley but the bitter is top notch.
Mad man!

The Three Elms is not famous for its beer, not only a Greene King pub, but they also have a special talent for ruining the guest ales.
They do though have Wye Valley HPA as a bit of a fixture and it is probably better in there than the Brit. A good pint.

I seem to remember the latter changing his car to defy a driving ban he had incurred in his previous vehicle.

Yes, just before he incurred a lifetime ban for throwing the landlord's cat out of his seat by the fire.
