I'm fine with it, get things going, why not.
So said the half-deaf old git, safely distanced in B-Block.

When banging, a bit of variety of movement makes all the difference

If all the no voters joined in the singing or even helped start it then maybe there wouldn't be a need for a drum I reckon a drum would be good as long as it is only used to get a song started and not to drown out the voices

Been to many games where a drum (full orchestra) has been present, when there's a big crowd it really gets the atmosphere going, almost carnival like, but at Edgar street I reckon it will be just be an annoyance, as for the village greens we are playing at I think it will just puss the neighbours off. If and when we get a big game again I think it may have a place, but not for now.

I think the criteria that need to be examined when considering a drum are:
A) is Jonny in attendance? B) will it drown out the genuine, organic match day atmos?
If either answer is "yes", then sorry, no drum.

It's a yes from me. And I never thought I'd say that.
Tin hat on time, but....
There may be 1000 fans on the Meadow End but they're bloody quiet for the majority of the time. Half- hearted songs ring out now and again, and if we win a corner in the last quarter of the match (and we're playing towards the ME) then there's a bit of noise, but generally it's quiet, quiet, quiet. Put it this way, the size of the crowd may be intimidating for opposition players, but the noise certainly isn't.
If a drum gets the crowd going then all the better.
Was 99% No, but above was where my 1% was, and, now I think Yes. Whatever it takes to get 3 or 4 quick promotions. Though I would prefer its use to just provoke some singing every 5 minutes or so, rather than a never ending banging (that has its own place), unless someone is able to reproduce a masterful Cozy Powell Dance with the devil, throughout the whole game. The meadow end choir needs to be more than opposition goal kicks at the meadow end.

Hereford's an upmarket city and only chavvy clubs have drums. We should have a string quartet on the Blackfriars End and maybe a harpist for the bigger games.

Every five minutes? Oh Christ. The Meadow End is losing its magic already...

need to generate that 'party feeling' 'some' may not like it if a drum helps in generating a good atmosphere then bring it on because at times I've been to noisier funerals.

If either answer is "yes", then sorry, no drum. Here is a short clip of the drum at Walsall Wood: youtu.be/Ih9RfdDQa7A?t=2m29sIf that drowns out the Meadow End it says more about the majority of our fans than it does about the drum itself. Equally if you watch the rest of the highlights, it's not heard at all.
