He looks a promising player but where will he fit into the team? If he's a winger we already have Ceesay and Matwasa. If he's a striker we already have Cowley, Williams and Rose. I can only think he might fill the attacking midfielder role in place of the desperately out of form Babos. There has been a lot of cr@p talked about Babos. Somebody on here the other day was saying he had been "shoehorned" into the team. Even taking into account his undeniable loss of form and inexcusable dismissal last Tuesday, his age and undoubted natural ability make him comfortably the most marketable Hereford FC employee. Top of the goalscoring and assisting NLN statistics last season. I would be surprised if the newcomer is not a better winger than Matwasa whose best work is of a defensive nature. He never goes past anybody in a forward direction. So you would base match day selection on last season’s stats? Or given your choice of words, offload him for a fee? I concur in that when on top of his game*, there is more football ability (and brain) in Babos than most of his mates, but he’s been well short of his best this season, even more so last month or two. Here’s hoping that he’s back sooner rather than later. *He’d get in any team at this level, I would offer.

Indeed, a decent ball into a very crowded area that Mr Williams converted with great skill. In relation to the discussion however, I don’t see your point.

Teixeira was preferred to him on Saturday; he seldom provides goals or assists. Babos is undoubtedly one of the best eleven. Regarding the goal, of course, it is another hallmark of Williams; he has always scored headers from both right and left wing crosses. The latter comes rather less easily to most forwards. If you go up for an imaginary header in the pub you will find yourself moving your head from right to left. I presume this has been factored in by the team management?

If you include Cowley, you could argue that we have had two new attacking signings.
An area of the pitch that has been surprisingly luke warm. At the start of the season most conversations were aimed at the defence.

Babos is Caddis's Ben Smith and he has to be utilised however possible. Without him you are left relying on Ceesay too much or hitting it long all the time.

Thanks for the words but still struggling, tbh. PS. Suspect that I may be going to the wrong pubs.

I have to ask, if players are doing their heading practise in pubs are they really the dedicated players we want to see in our team?

The last time I tried an imaginary header in the pub I hit the bar. Ha! See what I did there?

Surely "practice" is the noun and "practise" the verb? I believe ecb is correct.

We should always start with Williams and Cowley if fit. Our deficiencies are in midfield imho.

The only downside with Williams is his age. He doesn't play like he is old*, but I guess his workload** has to be managed.
*there was a post injury point of last season where he looked done. Thankfully by the end of the season he looked on it. Class player obviously.
**both game to game and chasing lost causes within games.
