Matt Murray looked a class act but how many matches did he play? Two, three at most? And one of them was against fecking Cheltenham. Wayne Brown was on loan for the entire 2005-06 season. Just saying. That Matt Murray performance against Cheltenham was one of the greatest performances I have ever seen for Hereford. Which is a nuts thing to claim. Talk about commanding! In the second half the Cheltenham players pretty much stopped going into the penalty area. He turned it into five aside penalty area rules just from being so dominant. That is how I remember it.

As I recall, Cheltenham's tactics extended little further than lumping the ball high into our area, which was pretty dumb with a giant between the sticks.
I also recall Murray's performance in the next match being rather mediocre by comparison.

For us to be debating the calibre of the goalkeepers he brought in shows the calibre of his little black book.
I think Caddis has a pearler of a loan signing for us at some stage this season.
I think if you did a pre league return loan players XI it would have a bit of desperation about it as we were largely potless through most of it.

Just saying. It was a toss up between Brown and Murray tbh. Murray shaded it. Brown would be on the bench with Blatherwick, Jennings, Gleeson, Willis, Igoe, Robinson and Guinan

Bailey up front from Crewe. Was not convincing, went back to parent club, got reinvented as a defender and had a pretty decent career.

Didn’t we have a certain Hungarian goalkeeper on loan from Liverpool at one time under GT? I wonder what became of him?!🤔

Despite him going on to bigger things, Gulasci was nowhere as good as those other two, IMHO.

GTs on loan XI would be pretty smoky. Just mental goalkeepers alone. In the same season! GK Murray RB Purdie (bit of a stretch here but he’d do the job) CB NGotty CB Mkandawire LB Threlfall RM Ainsworth CM Eustace CM Toumani LM Pugh F. Hooper F. McDonald just off the top of my head. Sure there’s many others I’ve forgotten. One or two went on to sign full time, one signed, left and came back on loan. One signed, left, came back on loan, signed, left and came back again… Carl Beeston. Just saying.

O'Neill Thompson. I am sure someone told me that we were picking up £2k of his £5k weekly wage. No idea if that was true? Doubt it, HUFC would have gone bust within a few years otherwise. Worth remembering too that £5k a week was quite tidy money back then .

Genuinely can’t recall any full backs apart from Threlfall.

For full backs how about the sadly departed Lee Collins who could play right across the back 4?

Didn't really stand out for us from memory but went on to have a very successful career at a higher level, playing for Plymouth and Cardiff and was a full international for Northern Ireland.

Scott Willis made his debut in the 9-0 at Dagenham, played 8 times for the Bulls and scored twice before having his loan period terminated for a “serious breach of club discipline). Would need to check the Bible, but the team’s stats during that period would make incredible reading. Would be something like 7 or 8 wins with an outrageous goal difference. edit-just checked -8 games, 8 wins, 24 goals scored, 3 conceded. He was sent off in his final game for 2 yellow cards staceywest.net/2021/06/24/looking-back-at-scott-willis/

We used six goalkeepers that season. One even scored against us! That’s when I knew we were gone! For ten points can anyone name him?

Chris Weale. Who had started the season at ES. That’s a great pub quiz question that’ll sort the men out from the boys
