A lot to be said for giving players contracts! York 2-0 Boston John-Lewis (5' minutes) Kouhyar (86' minutes)

Two promotions in one day! That's the way to do it.

Funny how our former players seem to perform a lot better at their new clubs than they did under Gowling.

Not the case with Hancox who only fulfilled his potential after Gowling loaned him out.

Josh has been criticised for so many loan players. Look at the quality he attracted however. The loan of Egan,Revan and an underused Gilella, come to mind. If Kouyar had stayed, and losing Lloyd to injury in the run in,was a huge blow at the end,we would have qualified for the playoffs.

Congratulations to York however. Getting out of this league,is so difficult compared to National South. The standard is so much higher.

Sign a good player and then under use him? Let a decent player leave for nothing? Attract quality and not play them. Attract quality and let them leave to your rivals. How is that something to be revered or to be praised? To think that you people used to be proud Hereford United fans! Did they expunge your bollocks at the same time as the results?

If so, how would you know? I have never seen a match in the latter but seen plenty in the former. I suspect the main reason NLN is such a difficult league from which to escape is that it is largely comprised of teams featuring lumbering big blokes that bully any team that lacks the guile to outsmart and outplay them. It occurs to me that Gateshead and York invested in contracting and/or borrowing/poaching players that offered the required skill-mix and consequently secured the necessary win ratio. Losing 17 games in a season is never likely to achieve elevation to the next level.

Guessing comparisons are made to NLS sides seen in recent years cup matches. Josh is proving to be marmite, unlike other Beadle replacements who enjoyed a bigger majority in their popularity poll. But I guess the not knowing was stronger then, whereas now more are giving up on ever knowing why Beadle left.

I watched some of those live streamed playoff games they showed a while back and the Southern ones were far better games from what I recall. Make of that what you will. I do suspect that it might be a league which better suits our style requirements. That said, the bottom 7 or 8 teams in National League were all Southern based again this season so there seems to be an a challenge for them in the division above.
