We would have seen a lot more of him if Martin Foyle had played him! When Beadle brought him into the struggling side it was abundantly clear what we had been missing. Welling away comes to mind. (Was that his first game?) And of course the Alfreton goal.
I had a ticket to see his West Ham home debut. My partner asked me not to go as the pandemic was in its early stages. Undoubtedly a good move on her part but frustrating all the same!
Bowen is a real talent and seems a decent, hardworking, humble young man. We should all be proud.

Indeed. Always expected good things from him. It's surprising how things turn out.

To be fair, I thought the same as ww. I don't know why and can't really be arsed to go through hundreds of posts to check. If this were 10 years ago then I would've happily spent all night finding the evidence. Fortunately, I can no longer be arsed! FWIW my contribution a little further up the thread was a direct quote from this post by barney - and deliberately taken somewhat out of context, given the remaining content of the post. A half-arsed attempt at a Newelly, if you will. It was the 'best' I could find and, like yourself, I couldn't be arsed to look any further. We move on. Naughty. But funny. 👏

I try to catch Jarrod when he's on the tellybox, as much as I can, and am proud of him; I can't honestly remember him having a bad game, very consistent.
I probably concentrate on him too much, as I can't name many of the other West Ham players; Rice* because he's part of a classic British meal, and Antonio because I like Shakespeare.
* In truth, I do try to watch Rice as much as possible; I think he's top class.

Speaking of classic British food it is great to see Belmont McDonald's will be open on Christmas Day.

You might also like Ben Jo(h)nson for the poetry and Mark Noble for the lineage. Can't think what you'd like Alphonse Areola for.

I'm conflicted watching West Ham; like a lot of people, they were always my second team because of the brand of football they played under Ron Greenwood and then John Lyall.
However, I can't stand their current owners (didn't like them at the Blues), and am not happy that they're likely to make millions in profit at the expense of tax payers when they sell the London Stadium once the 10 year clause is kicks in.
I now watch hoping Jarrod scores a hat-trick every game, Rice dominates the midfield as he normally does, Antonio pulls off a piece of magic as he is he is wont to do, and that they get beat every time. It's interesting.

Then they got the porn crew on board and tried to nobble Turner with that league cup game. Really talked down to us. Then the same thing happened with West Ham who again most people liked for their plucky club ways until they lost their soul under this lot.

Sometimes, when I'm playing by/with myself (which is often), I like to speculate on who I would've supported/followed had I been born/domiciled in a different area/city etc of the country. I hear the West Ham thing with regard to London trotted out a lot but personally, I think I'd have followed Fulham because I liked "Minder" and Terry McCann was a Fulham fan (despite him only ever appearing at one football ground during that wondrous TV series, and that was Stamford Bridge; series 2, episode 12 - "All About Scoring Innit?"). Birmingham; yep, I agree. Definitely The Blues. The alternative just doesn't bear thinking about. Black Country; Albion. Never liked Wolves much, not sure why but possibly because of their Subbuteo team. Manchester; City, or perhaps City. Merseyside; Tranmere. Used to go there quite regulary on a Friday night in the mid-80s when Rovers were royally sh!te. Comedy gold. East Anglia; Norwich. Great kit, Kevin Keelan. According to his wiki page, Kevin became rowdy after tea. Sheffield; Wednesday. Purely because of the origin of their name. North-East; Sunderland. Because of the '73 FA Cup Final. South Coast; Southampton. Because of '76 FA Cup Final and The Dell and its angular appearence (when it wasn't under water). South-West; Argyle. Because they play in green which is unusual. Nottingham; Forest. Because of (I know, I know....) Brian Clough. Bristol; City, because of The Wurzels song.

Oh yeah. Doh. Coventry is in the West Mids isn't it? So obviously the Villa thing is coming over loud and clear, apart from the added spice of local games who else is there that goes a bit deeper over Notts/Leics/Derby way?

Leicester was always "The One" back in the day for loads of City fans but I never quite got it, I always got more wound up by the vile than Leicester. In the 80s, Cov fans would sing "12 weeks till Leicester, there's only 12 weeks till Leicester" when the Leicester game was well, 12 weeks away, I suppose. Then they'd sing "11 weeks till Leicester, there's only 11 weeks till Leicester" when the Leicester game was 11 weeks away. Then they'd sing "10 weeks till Leicester, there's only 10 weeks till Leicester" when the Leicester game was 10 weeks away. Then they'd sing "9 weeks till Leicester, there's only 9 weeks till Leicester" when the Leicester game was 9 weeks away. Then they'd sing "8 weeks till Leicester, there's only 8 weeks till Leicester" when the Leicester game was 8 weeks away. Then they'd sing "7 weeks till Leicester, there's only 7 weeks till Leicester" when the Leicester game was 7 weeks away. Then they'd sing "6 weeks till Leicester, there's only 6 weeks till Leicester" when the Leicester game was 6 weeks away. Then they'd sing "5 weeks till Leicester, there's only 5 weeks till Leicester" when the Leicester game was 5 weeks away. Then they'd sing "4 weeks till Leicester, there's only 4 weeks till Leicester" when the Leicester game was 4 weeks away. Then they'd sing "3 weeks till Leicester, there's only 3 weeks till Leicester" when the Leicester game was 3 weeks away. Then they'd sing "2 weeks till Leicester, there's only 2 weeks till Leicester" when the Leicester game was 2 weeks away. Then they'd sing "1 week till Leicester, there's only 1 week till Leicester" when the Leicester game was just a week away. Then we'd go to Leicester, lose, come back to Highfield Road and the song would start again.
