I know the clue is in the title - but can someone please explain how transfers work at this level. What exactly does this mean? I presume there is no transfer window? Does cash exchange hands between clubs, or is it purely compensation of the player? Also what is the rough sort of wage for a player at this level?

By putting '7 days' on a player it means that we are notifying his club of our intentions to speak to and ultimately sign him. Once '7 days' has been placed the prospective club cannot officially approach said player until the days have elapsed.
No transfer fee would exchange hands unless the player had a full contract as opposed to the non-contract terms the majority of players at this level are on. No compensation either. Wages can vary from petrol expenses to £300-£400 per game if rumours are to be believed.

Then the prospective club can make him an offer and then he decides?
Judging by his twitter comments its not just about money with him, just our luck!

Essentially yes, there are probably other logistical reasons behind the 7 days though.
It's quite an exciting feeling knowing a team has put 7 days on you.

If you bothered to Listen to Craig David then there'd be no need to waste ink by writing this thread!

Is the the one where he boasts inanely about his sex life? (Quite a catchy song, though)

"7 days" reminds me of the old saying, "a week's a long time in politics".
Thank goodness it's merely sport and nothing as complex as politics we discuss on this forum.

Do we know when exactly the seven days is up so that the approach can be made?

Do we know when exactly the seven days is up so that the approach can be made? About a week after, I think.

'According to his Twitter it was last Saturday' So he's had this week to consider any offer HFC have made and as there's no positive reply can we assume he ain't to keen on coming?

He is their captain, its his local club so he probably has some loyalty about him. just because its Hereford who have put 7 days notice on him doesn't mean he is keen to leave! hope he does as we need him!!

He probably thinks he's got a better chance of promotion, by staying where he is....................
