This is aimed mainly at the casual supporterbut do any of you believe that if there was the possibility of the player that you most want to watch being rested for the next game that you may have second thoughts about going ?. Let's assume that the player in question is the 36 goal top goalscorer.Would any casual supporter be put off by this ?.

Unless you're about 11 3/4's I'd say you have to be pretty shallow to go to ES just to watch one player.

Either that or you are comparing Midland premier with the Premier league. Bit of a non comparison but each to their own I guess.

Personally I thought that it was a reasonable question. Those of us who have gone for years would go regardless.I'm not saying that it wrong to rest one of the better players if we feel that we can still win the game, simply that the casual supporter may want to watch the strongest possible side so that they maybe enticed to become a regular once more.

If our best players were going to be rested for a game, then yeah, it'd affect whether I went. After all, I'm not going to watch Midlands league football, or because I have a massive attachment to a club in its first season - I want to be entertained by good football played by good players. Just like most of the other 4000 currently attending.
Edit: just to qualify this slightly, it wouldn't make a difference to me in a proper league, but at the moment we're in a shit league where we might get promoted into another shit league... I'm just not that bothered about whether we win or lose at the moment, I'm just looking for value for money with my £10.

Talking to a couple of gents at Lye pre match. Not supporters of either team. Had come to see the prolific scorer Mills in action., think they said they were Wrexham and ? followers. Guess they wouldn't have turned up if they'd found out he wasn't playing. Nearest I can get for you HJ I only know avid supporters so NO don't really know anyone who'd miss a game for such an odd reason!

As Dorsetbull says, it's a team game. You don't go to watch one player, you go to support the team.

I'd agree that most attendees want to see good, entertaining football, you would be a bit strange to want to watch dire, insipid fair. As for not being bothered by the result then you seem to have missed the point of professional/semi professional sport, still, missing the point has been a particular strong point of yours since well before the inception of this spawn of BB forum!

As a neutral, I once went to watch Villa vs West Ham, purely to see Trevor Brooking.

With today's game looking likely to have a 3000+ gate, despite the Dear Leader announcing there will likely be some squad rotation going on, it seems many 'floaters' aren't attracted by any one squad member.
