How many of the younger ones on here were there at our last season in the conference and attended regularly, I remember standing on the meadow end in the final half of that season and commenting that the average age had doubled on the meadow end, as the youngsters had abandoned us, I remember that last day at Aldershot at least 600 of the 800 there were over 40

Thing is, there were more of us old uns in them days and even now if you took us pre 1972 fans away I think the gates today would be sub 1000, and the past was at a decent level unlike now and don't forget, we had to go by horse and cart to get to games, and had to light candles when it got dark. horse and cart? You were lucky. We had to walk 37 miles from our house just to get to every game, and when we got there our dad would buy a pie for all 23 of his kids to share and if you were lucky you might get a tiny bit of crust.

Remembering what the pies were like in the late sixties you were lucky you didn't get a whole one
