(Incidentally, Google predictive search describes Russ Abbot as a "musician.") I loved his cover of Joy Division's "Atmosphere". He sang it far better than their singer Tony Curtis ever did.

I believe that to be heartfelt and true.
He seems like a bloke who just wants a simple life. Possibly due to an overly-complicated past but, you know, one year I didn't give any money to Children In Need so none of us are perfect.

There are known simple lives and there are unknown simple lives.
On top of this, there are simple minds.

Now that some real perspective is coming into peoples' lives, I was heartened to read in today's Hereford Times the following comment by educationalist, former principal of Hereford Sixth Form College, Jonathan Godfrey:
"I have to confess I am not particularly exercised by Boris Johnson being "economic with the actualite" regarding parties in Downing Street. The ongoing furore combined with the relative lack of ire aroused by much more egregious untruths suggests the great masses of the people will more easily fall victims to a great lie than a small one."
As the Prime Minister continues to lead in a statesmanlike manner, I am pleased that Jonathan has made this point to the Great Unwashed of the county. Almost as pleased as Jonathan, no doubt, to be able to call me an acquaintance.

There are so many lies nowadays that it's impossible to tell what the truth is. I'm sure this has always been the case to some degree but it's just that nowadays you have to read through millions of people's opinions as well. Many of which are based on known untruths let alone the unknown untruths. Then the myriad of official lies (both lies which are unplanned and those which are planned) on top of the lies built from bent truths which were created to try to prove a point.
It's times like this that I wish I was religious. Beam me up Scotty, it has hit the wall down here.

Sergey Lavrov looks exactly like every bloke who used to play skittles for Bartonsham "B" in the 1960s.

Statesmanlike Lmao 😂 you really are in wind up mode ! you will be telling us next that truss and dorries are the golden ticket ..... amused to see dorries espousing the wonderful unbiased coverage from the bbc now. This is the bbc that she cut funding for back in January “unbiased” is fine then as long as it’s not in any way critical of this government ....

There has been unanimity in the pub and at skittles that Mr Johnson is doing a fine job. Labourites are understandably finding it very difficult to swallow.
Eat your heart out.

Nowhere have I written that you are!
Me I can't stand Johnson. I voted to Remain.
However, you all need to get used to the idea he's regarded by the majority of the electorate as a likeable rogue.

Why didn't you vote for him then? It's true that I voted Liberal at the last General Election. That was all about Brexit. They were the only party explicitly supporting Remain.

You may be right but it demonstrates how naive people are ... some people get what they deserve ... trouble is the rest of us do too ! apart from my concerns over the intelligence and integrity of those in government at the moment I am very worried about the direction we are headed with regard to free speech and upholding the law and the the constitution. Clearly they are hellbent on dismantling the bbc and as they have demonstrated are not the least bit concerned about parliamentary procedure or the law. im not a fan of despots and dictators ... look what’s happening in Ukraine !

There is sounding like a statesman, which, TBFL, Johnson was as close as he'll ever get this week, and then there is acting like one, of which Johnson is patently incapable. The people in my pub* (we don't have a skittle alley) are unanimous in their loathing of him, and of his his criminally over-promoted front bench.
As for the 'likeable rogue' schtick, that's well past it's sell by, and one way or another, this serial liar/sh1t Worzel Gummidge tribute act will not be the PM after the next election. Or perhaps sooner.
